We are all used to seeing vehicles branded up to promote products – they come in all shapes and sizes. One of the more unusual ones was in Edinburgh last month. A pretty little blue boulangerie camionnette was parked in Multrees Walk – and creating quite a stir. It was not as innocent as the French bakers van image would imply as it was promoting Grey Goose vodka – but in what style. Inside was a miniature cocktail bar, and those lucky enough to be invited in had the attention of a personal mixologist who devised a bespoke Martini, based on your individual tastes. The bakery connection is ingenious: the vodka is made from the best French wheat – just like the best French baguette.
When French celler master Francois Thibault created Grey Goose vodka in Cognac he used the region’s finest ingredients and did as little to them as possible, so the once-distilled spirit retains as much of the flavour of the wheat as possible. We understand that the Grey Goose Martini bar will take to the road again – try to experience it if you get the chance!
