Launched in September 2021, the Inception art show is a curated selling exhibition of contemporary art by sculptors, photographers and painters, including ten newcomers to the event. Says Charlotte Rostek, development director Dalkeith Palace, ‘Inception has become our flagship show, signalling a whole new chapter in the story of this remarkable building.’

Designed by William Adam, and completed in 1711, Dalkeith Palace in Midlothian lies in a vast acreage of wooded grounds. — *Designed by William Adam and completed in 1711, Dalkeith Palace in Midlothian lies in a vast acreage of landscaped wooded grounds.* Home to the Buccleuch family for over 300 years, its Park is home to the Fort Douglas Adventure Playground, and the Restoration Yard, with a store, restaurant and wellbeing studios with waymarked cycling and walking routes.

The event, held in partnership with long-established Edinburgh law firm Anderson Strathern, has an inspiring additional programme of artist-led workshops, tours, an online charity auction and a special Family Day.

This year, ten new artists are joining for the first time, and among the programme of events there will be a new Family Day on 11th May which will include family-friendly workshops and demonstrations.

There will be tours of the Palace, and an online charity auction in support of Inception‘s charity partner, the My Name’5 Doddie Foundation, giving visitors the opportunity to bid for works by many of the artists, painters and photographers.

Walter Dalkeith's photographic images and video evoke Scotland's wild and rugged beauty at its most moody and dramatic. Painter Taisir Gibreel's work appears in the Great Gallery and elsewhere. All visitors will have the opportunity to purchase artwork during the show.

Walter Dalkeith, who along with Taisir Gibreel and Charlotte Rostek curates the event, said, ‘Working alongside the artists, we hope to create an immersive cultural experience that showcases the art at its best and engages directly with visitors.’

The event is ticketed (£3) with tickets now on sale.
