Currently showing at Fire Station Creative in Dunfermline, The Shape of Words: A celebration of Text in Art demonstrates the beauty, power, play and possibilities of typography in visual art.

Arguably the most visible element of communication that we often don’t really think about (shop signs, websites, magazines), type has a rich tradition in itself, and in the fine arts, with lettering and text featuring in painted works through the centuries. Here, an assembly of visual artists, including illustrator Jonny Hannah, artist Alan Grieve, sculptor Robert Mach, multimedia artist Richard Jobson (of Fife punk band The Skids), compositor Christian Brett, painter Gordon Picken and gallery curator Ian Moir, have all come together to show the visual magic of the written word.

Entry to the exhibition is free.
