Having featured landscape painter Gerald McGowan in February, Larks Gallery in Ballater has announced that it is featuring Fiona Sturrock in March. Working mainly in acrylics, Fiona’s interests lie in the contrasts of old and new, juxtaposed in the one space, attracted to objects for their history, narrative, or vintage charm, for instance old vases or jugs contain flowers’ new freshness, her bold work driven by a love of mixing and painting colour. Painting from life, photographs and imagination, she is influenced by the historical work of the Colourists and Impressionists, inspired by contemporary Scottish art’s undeniable wealth and richness. Fiona’s work is held by many Scottish galleries and private collections in the UK and overseas.
