Of course, August is Festival time in the capital and there is one event dedicated to us foodies. Foodies Festival transforms Inverleith Park into the UK’s largest celebration of food and drink. Since it started eight years ago, it has grown into a major attraction, with over 200 artisan producers, pop-up restaurants, international street food and Scotland’s culinary maestros. It will be interesting to see how Eat, Drink, Discover Scotland matches up next month. The new event organised by the Royal Highland and Agricultural Society of Scotland at Ingliston aims to provide a single showcase of Scotland’s excellence in food and drink on 12-14 September. Already it has been making a splash with its search for the secret ingredients that Scottish cooks just have to have in their pantry. Edinburgh chef Mark Greenaway has been touring the land looking for those culinary gems. All will be revealed next month.
