This year’s Edinburgh International Science Festival turns its spotlight on food. Events, demonstrations and an exhibition are all part of Science on a Plate at the Royal Botanic Garden from 31 March to 9 April. There are hands-on activities for children to help them learn about healthy eating and stimulate an interest in where food comes from in “Stirring Stuff” and “The Apple Show” uses theatre to explore the links between people, food and the environment. For adults there’s an exploration of the aphrodisiac and amorous qualities of canapés and cocktails with author Mark Douglas Hill and nutrition scientist Dr Alexandra Johnstone. The accompanying exhibition in the John Hope Gateway is already open.
