Edinburgh sale room Lyon & Turnbull has an eye-catching programme of auctions planned this February: Paintings & Works on Paper on 7th Feb brings the work of several major names in Scottish and British art online, including a leading light of British modernism, William Johnstone, who studied at Edinburgh College of Art in the 1920s. The following day, Rare Books, Manuscripts, Maps & Photographs (live and online) includes an extraordinary copy of the Kelmscott Press The Works Of Geoffrey Chaucer, published in 1896 incorporating design-work by William Morris and Edward Byrne-Jones. Finally, on 22nd and 23rd Feb, the Five Centuries sale will be led by a selection of furniture, porcelain and works of art compiled in the mid-19th century and in the collection of the Scottish Borders estate of Newton Don and, latterly, Harrietfield.
