Fidra Fine Art in Gullane is showing an Abstracted, a new exhibition featuring paintings by Chris Brook, Dominique Cameron, John Kingsley, Simon Laurie and Ronald F Smith, alongside sculptural pieces by Ailsa Magnus and Lorraine Robson. Being abstract in nature, much of the work speaks to memory and emotion, with representational connections to the subject distilled into simple, pure and expressive combinations of form, composition and colour balance, but narratives may be contained within.

Lorraine Robson is showing at the Gallery for the first time, showcasing her ceramic, wall hanging, and organic relief sculptures, evoking calm and connection with the natural world, while Ailsa Magnus’s free-standing wooden forms continue the organic theme, in native hardwood sculptures that are beautiful and tactile.
