A long-standing home for excellent contemporary art, Eduardo Alessandro Studios is hosting a special exhibition of thirty paintings marking the progress of Jonathan Mitchell‘s practice as an artist since graduating from Dundee’s Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art thirty years ago. Jonathan’s association with the gallery began shortly after graduating, and he has been developing his technique, described as ‘painterly realism’, in an endeavour to create detailed and atmospheric aworks featuring a contre-jour lighting perspective, where the viewpoint is looking straight into the sun, thereby generating heightened tonal contrasts.
