Dating back to the 1770’s, Edinburgh’s New Town quarter is acclaimed throughout the world for its classical architecture and elegant planning, and is the setting for the inaugural NT Art Month – a celebration of its art venues. Encompassing Dundas Street, Abercromby Place, Howard Street, Queen Street and beyond, the festival highlights across ten participating galleries the wealth of artworks on display, by international and home-grown Scottish artists, alongside prodigious emerging talent. An opening event 6-8pm Wednesday 7th June invites visitors to wander the New Town streets, soaking-up everything the galleries have to offer – paintings, sculpture, decorative arts, ceramics and bronze editions – and return to their favourite galleries for events throughout June.
