The Art of Wallpaper – Morris & Co. at Dovecot Studios in Edinburgh explores the legacy of the designer William Morris (1834-1896), who advocated living ‘a beautiful life’. Morris began designing wallpapers in the 1860s and within a decade was creating some of his most enduring patterns, including Larkspur, Jasmine, Willow and Marigold. The exhibition places the visitor in the 19th and 20th-century interiors for which these wallpapers were originally made. The collection also includes wallpapers by acclaimed 19th and 20th-century designers such as Owen Jones, Dresser, Pugin and Voysey.
