Rare prints by leading Scottish artists from the past 50 years have gone on sale in Edinburgh Printmakers’ digital sale of Scottish prints: From the Archive is the first by the organisation as its Castlemills building remains closed. Prices start at less than £250 and include works by Callum Innes, Rachel Maclean, Alasdair Gray, John Byrne, John Bellany, Louise Hopkins, Carol Rhodes and more, including Kate Downie, pictured.
The viewing room features work by Edinburgh Printmakers alumni dating back to 1967, and all works are monogrammed or signed by the artist, given an edition number, feature an EPW embossed certification. This is the first of a series of curated digital exhibitions of collections of rare or unseen prints from the Edinburgh Printmakers archives – currently home to over 2,000 prints – allowing the team to share some of the hidden treasures in the building, and for buyers to invest in the Scottish arts community, hard-hit by the Covid restrictions. The exhibition supports the Own Art finance scheme.
