Dundee Contemporary Arts presents the first major European exhibition of work by the American artist Eve Fowler, who has exhibited widely in the US for two decades. ‘what a slight. what a sound. what a universal shudder.’ expands further on Fowler’s feminist engagement with the words of Gertrude Stein, using art and language to disrupt and unsettle the dominant power structures which control much of the world. Since 2010, Fowler has created a body of work centred on Stein’s expansive writings, taking the form of posters, prints, billboards, paintings and installations and employing materials such as vinyl, neon, collage, print, painting and film. The work will fill DCA’s expansive galleries and also reach outside to appear in public spaces around Dundee and further afield.
