David Austen: Underworld at Dundee Contemporary Arts (DCA) sees the painter/ sculptor/printmaker/film-maker bring a new body of stylistically diverse work, including oil paintings on heavy flex canvas, delicate watercolour works on paper, suspended sculptural objects and cinematic film projects. Austen draws from sources as varied as 19th-century literature, poetry, ancient myth and film noir. A graduate of the Royal College of Art, he has exhibited widely over the past 30 years. His work is held in collections such as the Tate, British Council, Arts Council England and the Government Art Collection.
