6 Dundas Street
Edinburgh
After an absence of two years, the French/Catalan landscape artist Denis Ribas returns to the Dundas Street Gallery. Ribas’ depictions of Provence are often compared to the work of Vincent van Gogh, with their vigorous brush strokes, bold colours and multiple layers. Like the Impressionist school, he paints only outdoors, without retouching his work in the studio. Another reason for this Edinburgh visit is to attend The Sportsman’s Charity Dinner at Prestonfield House, where he is once again donating a painting for auction to benefit Teenage Cancer Trust, which he has supporting for a decade.
