Renee Rilexie is a mixed media artist with a form of synesthesia, where she can translate music and sound into colours. Her first large scale sensory installation which will occupy the entire Dundas Street Gallery in Edinburgh until 27 April 2019.
Made from over 10,000 yards of wool (yarn), this installation is a colour conversation which resonate the inner rhythms and connection with life, energy, inner conversation, thoughts, dreams, wishes and more.
Visitors are encouraged to enter the space and engage with their senses, enjoy a quiet discussion or just pause for silence and just be.
Synesthesia is a condition in which one sense (for example, hearing) is simultaneously perceived as if by one or more additional senses such as sight. It can occur between just about any combination of senses or cognitive pathways. Synesthetes — or people who have synesthesia — may see sounds, taste words or feel a sensation on their skin when they smell certain scents.
