Douglas Roulston: The Mountain and The Beach at Eduardo Alessandro Studios in Broughty Ferry is the artist’s first large scale solo exhibition. Like the 19th century Romantic artists he studied while gaining a Master of Fine Art degree at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design, he is inspired by the magical places he visits while travelling around Scotland, often undertaking long, arduous journeys to remote locations. A keen walker and mountain-biker, he sees a direct correlation between the energy required to create one of his works and its true value. Passionate about bringing the sense of place to everything he produces, his oils and acrylics are characterised by stunning vistas, vivid colours and rays of light piercing through clouds over the Highlands.
