Tatha Gallery in Newport-on-Tay is featuring a double showcase featuring two outstanding artists whose work is a celebration of colour and the interplay of shapes.
Wilhelmina Barns-Graham: Visions in Time comprises a selection of prints made between 1991 and the early 2000s, when the late abstract artist’s printmaking endeavours were at their most prolific and energetic. Barns-Graham said of her paintings from this period, ‘I want to express the joy and importance of colour, texture, energy and vibrancy, with an awareness of space and construction. A celebration of life – taking risks, so creating the unexpected.’
Also showing is Hetty Haxworth: Changing Light, which includes a new series of monoprints by the internationally-renowned artist, many of which were inspired by a lake near her home and which through the simplicity and immediacy of the monoprinting process capture a sense of peace in the fleeting light and changing rhythm of passing days.
