Celebrated Barbadian-Scottish artist Alberta Whittle will be showing colourful new multi-media works at the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art (Modern One) in Edinburgh.?Alberta Whittle: create dangerously conveys the artist’s spirit of compassion through powerful and poetic storytelling, confronting the violence of colonialism, the legacies of the transatlantic trade in enslaved people, and the impact of the climate crisis, and a cultural vision of collective care in resisting racism and anti-Blackness.

This is the largest exploration of the artist’s works to date, comprising sculpture, installation, digital collage, drawing and watercolour, with new work made especially for the show.
