Stuart Duffin RE RSA SSA: If Angels Cast Shadows… Paintings, Etchings & Mezzotints at Compass Gallery features new works by an artist better known for his printmaking, but who for the last year has been concentrating on painting. A multiple award-winner, he cites Masaccio’s ‘Trinity’ as an enduring influence and a reminder of the transient nature of human life. This, along with a fascination for the historical relationship between religion and science, has fed back through his work, which explores the theme of conflict and resolution and incorporates various elements such as church iconography and map-making.
