Torrance Gallery in Edinburgh’s next exhibition is a solo show by Andy Cross, billed as ‘a wonderful Scottish Colourist style painter’. Now in his 70’s and still painting full time, Andy is based in Lanark and his paintings are described as ‘delicate yet robust’, and having ‘…a distinct and energetic’ style. He attended Glasgow School of Art 1971 – 1975, studying jewellery and silversmithing and for many years was an art teacher until the mid-80’s when he began to focus full-time on his own art, and has garnered an esteemed reputation, notably as an authentic bearer of the Scottish Colourist torch, exhibiting with the Royal Scottish Academy, Scottish Society of Artists, the Royal Glasgow Institute and Paisley Art Institute.
