On show at Edinburgh’s Arusha Gallery, Claire Partington’s ornate ceramic sculptures reimagine characters from myths and fables – in this case a group of works inspired by Scottish folklore and folk tales – putting a contemporary spin on classical European work from the Renaissance onwards. Her labour-intensive process involves coil-building and sculpting her figures, later adding moulded surface embellishments and enamel decorations on top of her glazes.

The Gallery shows an ever-changing programme of exhibitions in its Edinburgh space and in associated galleries in the UK and abroad.
