A childhood in the village of Achmore among the beautiful hills and lochs of northwest Scotland has exerted a consistently strong influence on the work of painter Charlie Parsons, whose exhibition is showing at Dundee’s Gallery Q. Paint was always there among the ink, charcoal and graphite, but while studying at Duncan of Jordanstone it was digital illustration which became the focus, leading to the creation of fantastical portraiture.

Now, almost a decade after graduation, the return to oils and stretched canvas comes with a bold new approach to colour and composition, applied to the familiar setting of the Scottish landscape as well as still-life studies.

There is also a mixed exhibition of paintings, prints, jewellery, textiles, ceramics, glass and sculpture.
