Artists in the Spotlight at Junction Arts in Aberdeen is Cath Roberts, who builds layers of colour using palette knives on canvas to create an inexact, painterly texture ideal for depicting the Scottish landscape. Also showing is new work by gallery regulars, printmaker Suzie Mackenzie and painter Doreen Bothwell.
Cath spent her formative years in Aberdeen, then studied at Glasgow School of Art and now lives by the sea, south of Stonehaven.
In her work you’ll find familiar and favourite themes that get revisited, especially local compositions in the North East of Scotland. These contrast with the big open landscapes typical of Old Kincardineshire that she also enjoys.
