Working mainly in oil, September’s featured artist Caroline Simmill creates landscapes and seascapes of the Scottish Highlands and Islands, from dark, stormy skies to a play of light on the ocean. Exploring the shoreline at dusk or witnessing a new day dawning in sometimes remote and wild places, she sketches in charcoal then later develops her paintings in the peace of her Moray studio.
