Land of Mountain and Flood at Resipole Studios Fine Art Gallery in Acharacle, Argyll is the latest exhibition by Inverness-shire based artist Jonathan Shearer, who made repeated expeditions into the mountains of Lochaber and Torridon armed with only a tent, his sketchbooks, a few small canvasses and a box of artist materials to capture the essence of the landscape. Jonathan says, ‘From winter expeditions on the ridge of Beinn Eighe to summit camps on Carn More Dearg to experiencing and painting the summer sunrise and sunset on the incredible sculpted features of the north face of Ben Nevis, I have tried to express in paint the sheer awe, exhilaration and physicality of these landscapes and the atmospheric conditions at different times of year.’ The Gallery is also showing new works by Shetland-born landscape artist Anna King and wildlife and landscape artist Colin Woolf.
