Established during lockdown, and one Edinburgh’s hidden gems, BirdsNest Gallery displays an eclectic range of works by a plethora of contemporary artists from Scotland and abroad, and houses a mini-cinema, studio, and art library.
Its latest exhibition is titled Curio, meaning a rare, unusual, or intriguing object. It’s a selection of exotic and strange treasures from the Gallery’s collection, many not previously displayed, which the Gallery illuminates, revealing their remarkable stories, and the people behind them – among them David Colledge, Robert Sawyers, John Bellany, Barbara Rae, Aurèlia Muñoz, Robert Powell and William Crosbie.
The ever-enterprising Gallery publishes a number of accompanying items including posters, brochures, a quarterly magazine, art-cards and a catalogue. Additionally, a series of events related to the exhibition, including a poetry reading, piano recital, film screenings, and more.
