Winifred Hodge: From Here to Distant Horizons at Upright Gallery in Edinburgh shows nature to be at the heart of her work. She sketches and paints outdoors, mostly in empty, isolated places, absorbed in the weather, sounds, birds, trees and wildlife. The finished works, often completed in the studio, are responses both to what she sees and an expression of the emotions of the whole experience on a particular day.
