From 18th September

The Beano studio’s London building has unveiled a large new installation created by Scottish-based graffiti artist Sleek. The publishers D C Thomson – stable of The Beano, Oor Wullie and the Dundee Courier – have licensed the artist, who works incognito, to adorn the reception foyer of their Fleet Street building – with a large spray-painting depicting the comic and broadcasting character Dennis the Menace and his dog, Gnasher. This is the latest in Sleek’s long-standing collaboration with the Scottish publisher and The Beano, which is expected to yield more artwork in the future.

Sleek, whose identity is a closely-guarded secret, only ever appears wearing a mask. He is formally-trained, and combines street art with pop art – a style that has proved enormously popular with major purchasers and galleries around the UK.
