Barony Centre I Painting with Sounds

50 Main Street,
West Kilbride,
North Ayrshire

Painting with Sound at the Barony Centre in West Kilbride is an audio- visual collaboration by Ayrshire artists and sound engineers Keith Salmon, Graham Byron and Drew Kirkland. The focal point of the exhibition is ‘The Kylesku Project’, the rst in a series of Scottish ‘sound landscapes’. Playing throughout the exhibition, it contains sounds from the natural Kylesku environment and of the painter working in his studio along with a selection of computer- generated tones. As a viewer looks at the painting and moves in front of it, different elements of the soundtrack are heard through ve surrounding speakers. The exhibition also includes around 25 of Keith Salmon’s Scottish landscape paintings.
