The Larder Bistro

The Larder Bistro launched over a year ago in Edinburgh’s West End, emphasising a menu of food and drink sourced from Scottish farms, fishmarkets, smokeries, cheesemongers, dairies and breweries to offer “a taste of the country in the heart of the city”. The Alva Street bistro has now launched a bakery run by Caroline Walsh who has worked in the food industry for 10 years. She has specialist knowledge of baking and artisan bread, was formerly head chef at the Fruitmarket Café and Loudons Bakery in Edinburgh and also worked in Paris at the Rose Bakery.

Caroline believes that what you put into baking is reflected in the end product – the proof is in the pudding as they say. She creates recipes with quality ingredients and flavours which are just a little bit different to ensure they look as good as they taste. The Bakery’s tempting breads, buns and pastries will be available to purchase to take away, as well as to eat in the bistro. Eleanor Cunningham, the owner of Edinburgh Larder, is delighted about this collaboration. “This is an exciting new venture with Caroline – we share very similar ideas about our ethos and the style of food we create”.
