The Nomads Tent in Edinburgh is a veritable warehouse of kilims, rugs, furniture, wall hangings, textiles, ceramics, jewellery and other tribal and village crafts sourced direct from Asia and North Africa. Their hand-woven vintage and contemporary tribal rugs mix ancient inherited patterns with abstract modernist designs driven by the creativity of the weaver and inspired by the mountainous landscapes in which they were created.

There are also regular exhibitions, music recitals, dance performances, talks and readings: latest events include a showcase (until 30th October) mounted in collaboration with two highly-talented and long-established Scottish businesses: the stylish craftsmanship of Clockhouse Furniture and the flamboyant design of Lizzie Bell Interiors, and a weekend Textiles Market (5th – 6th November) – a chance to discover textiles, artefacts, jewellery, vintage and collectables from around the world, with a focus on the myriad cultures of South-East Asia.
