Set in extensive grounds in rural Hertfordshire, Ashridge House dates back 700 years to its origins as a monastery, later becoming a residence for English monarchs Henry VIII and Elizabeth I; it has since served as an opulent private residence, a military hospital, ladies’ finishing school and now a conference, events, and wedding venue.

This summer, its 77-hectare grounds are the setting for an extensive Sculpture Exhibition, comprising an eclectic collection of contemporary and traditional sculpture crafted by a line-up of artists such as by Diane Maclean FRSS, Giles Penny ARBS RWA, and Jenny Pickford, Ed Elliot and Lilly Henry (whose works are pictured) and many more.

Advance booking via the house’s website (see left) is recommended.
