NB Gallery re-opens on 29th June.

Edinburgh’s Arusha Gallery continues its online programme with a current exhibition of paintings by Freya Douglas-Morris, while Ilona Szalay’s exhibition is set to start on 12th June.

Ilona Szalay’s exhibition is titled Some Are Born to Sweet Delight, Some Are Born to Endless Night. Beirut-born in 1975, Ilona has enjoyed an illustrious career: after completing an English Literature Oxford and Master of Fine Arts degree at Central St Martins, she was awarded the ORA Contemporary Art Prize (Italy), was a finalist for the prestigious Threadneedle Prize (UK), and her exhibition history takes in the Royal Academy, British Painter’s Association and the Barbican. Her work has been extensively exhibited in cities in Europe and the US. Through a range of media from canvas to tracing paper, LED light to glass, she uses a restrained, poetic subjective visual language.

Also available to view online is an exhibition of paintings by Freya Douglas-Morris –Tides. Born in London in 1980, where she lives and works, Freya holds a BA from Brighton University (2002) and a painting MA Royal College of Art (2013) and has had solo exhibitions across the UK, Europe and USA. Though derived from remembered places, patterns, stories, and imaginings, her often dreamy work symbolises something more universal, triggering the viewers’ own interpretations and memories.
