Arusha Gallery, Edinburgh: Eleanor Moreton, Wodewose

Arusha Gallery presents the newest exhibition of works by Eleanor Moreton. Moreton’s paintings are colourful and full of strange characters. In her work she looks at the family structure and its inherent instability: although in a seemingly organised environment, her characters are surrounded by natural elements. In the presumably familial living room scenario, Moreton brings its volatile, unpredictable nature to the forefront. While seemingly sweet, tranquil and fairytale-like the depictions carry a notion of rigid structures being threatened by what is lurking in the shadows.

Eleanor’s loose kaleidoscope-like brushstrokes tell a story the liminal spaces where fantastical creatures accompany the protagonist in between worlds-be it the underworld, dreamworld or a conscious journey within.

Private view:  Wednesday 29 May, 6-8pm
