Much of the new work featured throughout the summer at the Lost Gallery in Aberdeenshire focuses on the natural world. Gallery owner Peter Goodfellow is largely known for his expressionist Scottish mountain paintings, always having dwelled on the fauna of the British Isles, and frequently combining the human figure with a wild animal. Over a 50-year life as a professional artist he has also often wandered into other avenues, notably his book Treason of the Scholars, in which he attacks the ‘visual vandalism’ of the ‘brand artists’ and ‘sycophantic curators’ who promote them.
