Now in its 54th year, Art Basel continues as a major force on the international art stage. Conceived as a fair ‘by gallerists for gallerists’, since its inception in 1970 it has brought together thousands of exhibitors, artists, and visitors, and now stages annual art fairs in Miami, Hong Kong, Paris and Basel.

Taking place in the heart of the French capital at the Grand Palais, Art Basel Paris is being staged for the third year: a flagship event providing a platform for internationally-minded galleries to show and sell their work to buyers, and radiating across the city by working in collaboration with the host city’s local institutions to help develop art programmes. The newly-renovated venue, which is hosting the event for the first time, is hosting 195 galleries, from 42 countries including Scotland – 53 of them participating for first time.
The programme includes talks, new works across the city, and special events, organised into three sectors: the main Galeries exhibition hall specialising in modern and contemporary paintings, drawings, sculptures, installations, photography, video, and digital art, an Emergence sector where exhibitors present young and emerging artists through solo presentations, and the newly-introduced Premise section featuring nine galleries presenting specially-curated work – some created before 1900.

Artmag’s Publisher visited the event and sent these images, saying ‘Be sure to check out the Hong Kong Chinese Diner – part of a 3-year partnership between Hong Kong Tourism and Art Basel – and Hong Kong-based artist Trevor Yeung, who is an artist at Venice.’
