Mini-series of talks begins Thursday 16th July, 4pm CET/BST
2020 marks Art Basel‘s 50th anniversary: conceived as a fair by gallerists for gallerists, since its inception in 1970 it has brought together thousands of exhibitors, artists, and visitors, becoming a major force on the international art stage.
Now the enterprise is inviting viewers to discover more about its founding years through archive images, quotes from early participants, and key facts and figures. Bringing together participants from Art Basel’s early days, the discussions will look at what art fairs were like in the 1970s, what the dynamics between collectors, gallerists, and artists were at that time, and what memories remain strongest five decades later.
Register here to join collector Ulla Dreyfus-Best (Basel), and gallerists David Juda (London), and Ursula Krinzinger (Vienna) in a live conversation with Art Basel’s Global Director Marc Spiegler on Thursday 16th July, 4pm CET/BST. The talk will also be broadcast on Art Basel’s Facebook channel.
