After two years online the Edinburgh International Harp Festival is back live in its new home at George Watson’s College. Edinburgh has long been considered a world-class centre for harping. Highlights include the premiere of Maeve Gilchrist’s Sharmanka Suite, featuring specially filmed footage in the Sharmanka Kinetic Gallery in Glasgow which inspired the individual movements of the piece, Savourna Stevenson with saxophonist Steve Kettley (saxophone) playing a range of styles from trad to jazz, a reprise of Corrina Hewat’s The Song of the Oak and the Ivy, commissioned for the 30th festival in 2011 and performed by six harp players, and Siobhan Armstrong (pictured) performing Irish music in both ancient and modern forms.

There is also an online element for those unable to attend, while all concerts will be filmed and made available to view later.
