An Talla Solais Gallery in Ullapool has come up with an ‘inside-out exhibition’ for passers-by to enjoy before the Gallery reopens on 22nd May, on the theme of ‘five windows, five senses, five artists’ – Highland Whispers.
Alex Boyd, Victoria Caine, Pádraig Ó’ Tuama, Anna Raven and Nick Turner formed a collective during lockdown, under the management of Mary Ann Kennedy. At a time when those in the arts found themselves without work and deprived of connections, particularly in rural areas, they devised a game of consequences, ‘Highland Whispers’, wherein each artist responds to one of the five senses, and passes on their creations to the next, who would respond in his/her own medium.
The results can be viewed directly from the village’s Argyle Street, in the gallery windows, and online at the ‘Highland Whispers’ website, which includes a virtual walk-through exhibition.
