Val Thomson: Coast Lines at Larks Gallery in Ballater evokes memories of coastal days and colours, with Val using oil paint and cold wax to add layers intuitively, scraping back and carving into the surface until the painting starts to form and lead the way. Full of expansive skies, changing seas and wide, empty beaches, her works offer uncomplicated views of the horizon and a sense of space and peace.
