Aberdeen’s Gallery Heinzel is hosting the Aberdeen Artists Society annual exhibition, SQUARING UP – an open-submission collection of two-dimensional work – all of it square: due to space constraints at Heinzel’s Great Western Road venue, no piece is more than 30cm x 30cm, hence the show’s title.
The exhibition features over 100 submissions in a range of media, encompassing photography, embroidery, watercolour, oil, acrylics and more. As the Gallery says, ‘the format may have been prescribed, but the creativity is unbridled…’

Established in 1827 by a group of artists, the original aim of the Society was ‘the Mutual improvement of Painting and the furtherance of Art in general in Aberdeen’, and over the past 192 years it has remained true to that aim.
The Gallery is inviting all to the exhibition opening on Sat 5th Oct at 11am.

Gallery Heinzel supports the Own Art finance scheme, which makes purchasing artworks more affordable through payment by instalments, and artworks are available for sale via the Gallery’s website; they can arrange national and international delivery.
