A new exhibition at Perth’s City Contemporary Art features new drawings and paintings by Adrian Wiszniewski RSA – an internationally-acclaimed artist best known as one of the ‘New Glasgow Boys’, who shot to prominence in the mid-1980s. Wiszniewski’s huge, exuberant figure paintings were as redolent of fantasy and myth as they were attuned to everyday life, and acquisitions by the Tate and New York’s Museum of Modern Art led to his work being acquired by many public collections.
Wiszniewski has brought the same creative energy of his paintings to printmaking, sculpture, installations, furniture and interior design and writing, and he regards the exploration of new media as central to communicating fresh ideas. Impossible to predict, his work breaks new ground when least expected, while always retaining its unique graphic stamp.
Also showing is Autumn Show – a mixed exhibition of new paintings by both gallery regulars and new artists (until 12th Nov)
