Edinburgh’s &Gallery is hosting Adam Taylor’s debut solo exhibition in Scotland. Our Mountain comprises Adam’s latest work, and represents a journey through dreamscapes devoid of human influence – empty worlds which he paints initially with a brush, then uses a rag to remove areas of paint, paring-down each piece to a minimal composition and aligning it with its aesthetic vision.

Often employing a blue-green palette, the evoked vast skies act as canvases upon which to float the brush marks, in colours representing the boundless sky, and serving as a foundation for introducing order with subtle grids.
Our Mountain in this exhibition embodies the physical influence of nature, and the inherent struggle of the creative process, with each piece reflecting the tension between natural inspiration and the discipline required to bring them to life.
Describing himself as a British contemporary artist, Adam graduated in Fine Art in 2004 at Cardiff School of Art, and has previously exhibited in Wales, Spain and England.
