About Us

Artmag began life in August 2007, when it first appeared as an Edinburgh-based glossy gallery magazine. It was evident to us that the visual art scene in Scotland needed a special focus to engage readers, galleries and museums alike. By 2011, our reach included all of Scotland. Artmag is now the highest circulation, most widely distributed art magazine in Scotland and also highlights some of the best of NE England.

It is our privilege and purpose to be able to shed a spotlight on the visuals arts in Scotland and North East England and the galleries, events, organisers and museums which make it all happen. We want to inspire our readers and ensure they gain more appreciation to view, attend, invest and start or add to their art collections of Scottish/UK art and encourage talent to develop their skills for a Scottish and international market.

The range and wealth of talent of art and craftmakers is undeniable, including the many institutions which educate and support their efforts. Included in that list are the architectural gems which include the Riverside Museum, National Museums of Scotland, National Galleries, Kelvingrove Museum, the Burrell Collection, Dovecot and coming on board in 2018, V&A in Dundee and the renovated Aberdeen Art Gallery.

Each issue of Artmag includes news, gallery, museum and event openings, hundreds of exhibition previews, topical focus features, art & travel articles, and profiles on artist/craftmakers, other industry professionals, commentary and competitions. Subjects can range from The Glasgow Boys to the Turner Prize, the RSA or Glasgow International plus many regional art centres and galleries which bring internationally acclaimed art to their communities.

Online, we have a substantial archive of previously published features and information with many new features and guides to be added in the coming months.

Artmag is free to our readers within our delivery network which consists of 800+ galleries, museums, art fairs and events, art centres, art schools, cafes and key retail and hotel sites.
