A toast to art

A quiet, leafy Victorian street in the West End of Glasgow is the location of Hotel du vin at One Devonshire Gardens, a grand terrace of five adjoining townhouses. Classic yet contemporary, this chic boutique hotel offers deluxe comfort and hospitality. Enjoy a two night cultural stay on the all-inclusive Art du Vin package, to experience the finest art and architecture of the city. By day, a privately escorted tour around Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum, where the painting Christ of St John of the Cross by Salvador Dali is amongst 8,000 treasures. By night, a whisky tasting followed by dinner.

Bistro du Vin emphasises Scottish produce with a “homegrown and local” philosophy. Head Chef Darin Campbell sources venison and wood pigeon from Perthshire, West Coast shellfish, organic salmon and goes foraging for wild mushrooms. Among the artistic extras on offer is a private walking tour to see the grand designs of Charles Rennie Mackintosh, with Afternoon tea at the Willow Tea Rooms. [- VD]
