Edinburgh’s Colinton Arts is mounting a new exhibition showing the life’s works of Yvonne Hutchinson (1942 – 2019) – an exceptional Scottish artist, whose works evoke a certain sense of belonging, using layering, painting, collage and printmaking in a very physical approach. Yvonne’s daughter has bequeathed her work to the end of life charity Marie Curie, and the gallery will be donating a portion of its commission to its support. Yvonne’s work betrays a keen environmental sensibility – using plastic materials such as disposable raincoats, she reflected on the nature of sustainability, turning found objects into images of envisioned environments, threatened today like never before.
The images can be ordered online or in the gallery, which continues to offer its long-standing and trusted framing service.
