Set in the grounds of south Edinburgh’s Astley-Ainslie Hospital, an outdoor exhibition, Four Seasons in One Day, comprises photographs taken by local GP Dr. Pete Wands, who has collected eight years’-worth of images capturing the ever-shifting moods of Edinburgh’s streets throughout the four seasons of the year, the golden light of spring mornings following the cinematic shadows of dark winter nights.

Dr. Pete describes his walks with his camera as being an antidote to the pressures of being on the NHS front line, and has artfully captured the unique poetry that Edinburgh speaks.

The Hospital itself, with its extensive garden-scape of mature trees – ideal for recuperation – is scheduled to be re-developed for housing.

The exhibition has been mounted in collaboration with NHS Lothian Tonic Arts, which mounts year-round events, exhibitions, art and music in healthcare settings such as hospitals. Its principal dedicated space is at the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary in Little France.
Note: the exhibition currently has no official end-date.
