Following its recent exhibition of R J Buchanan’s work, Artisan& Gallery in Aberfeldy, Perthshire is showing The Tide’s Magnificence, featuring artists Jackie Henderson, Gail Stirling Robertson and Sarah Ross Thompson, betraying an obvious synergy in palettes, subject matter and emotions.
Recognisable for its subject matter and palette, Jackie Henderson’s layered, textured acrylics derive inspiration from her environment, with added textile and collage. The exhibition is named after a collection of poems and songs by Molly Drake, who focused on the fragility of creativity and of the creative life.

Gail Stirling Robertson is a gallery favourite, returning after successful previous exhibitions, and brings giclee limited-edition prints to add to her characteristic acrylics on canvas of instantly recognisable Scottish scenes.

Sarah Ross-Thompson, whose work is pictured at top, specialises in hand-inked, collagraph prints, constructing collage compositions using the likes of string, salt, corrugated card, porridge oats and lichen. Following a recent move she now finds herself with a Lighthouse view from her new studio window. She debuted at Artisan& at the Birds of a Feather exhibition earlier this year and her work has proved very popular. She brings a collection of landscapes and seascapes with a range of colour palettes.
Alongside the above, the gallery is showcasing another thirty or so artists, working in a varied mix of media, and, following the show’s opening, the Gallery is open 7 days a week (see left), but can remain open by appointment.
