New Cheese Shop A Cut Above the Rest

Stockbridge is becoming more of a culinary capital in its own right  – next door to Mr Eion – the fabulous local coffee roaster   is a wonderful new cheese shop set up by supreme cheese enthusiast George Mewes. He specialises in unusual cheeses that can’t be sourced on most supermarket shelves with a a good carefully balanced selection of world class British and Continental Artisan cheese.  George has  over 25 years experience of working as a chef, but seven years ago  the passion for fermented milk got to him.  He has sourced some wonderful award wining cheeses from the British Isles, France, Italy, Spain and Switzerland. I was just passing and George swept me in and offered me some cheese which was at it best: a gorgeous blue creamy unpasteurised cows milk from Collingthwaite Farm, Welbeck Estate, Nottinghamshire – called Stichelton. The shop is state of the art with ways of keeping cheese – an customers in tip top condition!

And with Christmas in mind – lots of cheese lover  accessories:  cheese knives, slate and wooden cheese boards, jams, truffle honey, chutneys, oatcakes and crackers.
